The government of Pakistan is now the primary target for the Pakistani Taliban (TTP – a coalition of various Pakistani jihadi group tied to Al Qaeda) and the USA is second on their target list.
“Now Pakistani rulers, President Zardari and the army will be our first targets. America will be our second target,” Ihsanullah Ihsan, a spokesman for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), or Taliban Movement of Pakistan, told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location.With the Pakistani ISI a government benefactor for the Pakistani Taliban this might well set in motion an uprsing in Pakistan with more acute islamic religious fervor than seen in islamic countries futher to the west recently.
I would surmise that a renewed full-scale battle for control of Pakistan and its nuclear weapons arsenal is the end-sum objective of the Pakistani Taliban. Those nukes could be used against US bases in the region of southwest Asia or against the US homeland or interests elsewhere.
